Hub building in Austria: The Alpine country will join up its EV charge points using the Hubject platform Intercharge. From April, 11, eleven utilities will combine their charging stations thus forming one network of 1,300 public points throughout Austria, which will make it much easier for PEV drivers to charge and pay. The republic hopes to inspire EV use further although it is 3 x higher than the EU average already. The move to network is matched by a 4,000 euro rebate available since this month.

Joint lab for personal mobility: Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Schaeffler have agreed to jointly find solutions for personal urban mobility and intelligent transportation systems for future metropolises. An electric skateboard with navigation is one of the less likely (or rather viral) projects but the partnership will build on the NTU-NXP Smart Mobility Test Bed with smart vehicles such as pedelecs communicating with their environment. The lab is funded with 5m dollars over 3 years so far.

EV-friendly province: Korea’s Gyeonggi Province plans its own local EV incentives. Starting from mid-June, EV subsidies will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis. A requirement for construction in the region to feature parking lots that have EV charging stations is in the cards as well.
