Germany get two eHighways: Germany will test electric trucks on 12 km stretches of two motorways in northern and central Germany from no later than the end of 2018. The trucks will be powered through an overhead wire. The German Press Agency dpa says, the exact location of the test routes will be announced in February.

Inductive charging standard gets more concrete: Carmakers and technology suppliers from across the world have agreed on the SAE J2954 standard for wireless charging. It allows for inductive charging with 3.7 and 7.7 kW and provides a basis for manufacturers to develop their systems. It also ensures that the new systems are compatible with vehicles from other brands.

Fully autonomous Tesla in 2017? Elon Musk says the company will be ready in about three and no later than six months to allow for fully automated driving.
