LG Chem starts construction in Poland: The South Korean says it kicked off construction of its new factory for EV batteries near Wroclaw. The 42,300 square metre facility will open its doors in the second half of 2017 and will annually churn out battery packs for more than 100,000 EVs with a range of up to 320 km.

Tesla-AutopilotAutopilot fails: The German Transport Ministry found the Tesla Autopilot to be a “considerable traffic hazard,” German magazine Spiegel reports. The Federal Highway Research Institute had carried out tests and found problems with sensors and the emergency brakes. This is not a final evaluation, which is why the Transport Ministry decided not to take the car out of service.

Honda works on magnesium battery: According to Nikkei, the Japanese manufacturer teamed up with research institute Saitec to produce a rechargeable and practical magnesium battery. An official announcement will be made in November, while the technology is said to be commercialised from 2018.

Swiss-made power-bike: Zvexx Motorbike has produced a first prototype of its electric motorcycle. The impressive looking Zvexx boasts 1,218 Nm of torque and is said to go from 0 to 80 kph in about three seconds. A 13 kWh allows for a range of 150 km on one charge.
