BMW plug-in for China only: The X1 xDrive25Le iPerformance is on display at Chengdu Motor Show. BMW’s latest plug-in hybrid will be made exclusively in China by JV partner Brilliance. Driven by a 70 kW electric motor, the 10.7 kWh battery is said to last for 60 kilometres.

Live production intent: GM is testing the Chevy Bolt in serial version and one has been captured in a picture series as it drove through San Francisco. More official details were released as well. E-Mobility test bed: Kandi Electric Vehicles Group, a Kandi-Geely JV, is to start selling its Global Hawk EV series via Qingdao TELD in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Qingdao has already paid 56m yuan (about 8.4m dollars). Shandong has agreed to establish a so-called Blue Economic Zone.

Volvo in India: The Swedish brand readies to launch its Volvo XC90 Plug-in-Hybrid in India next Wednesday (September, 14). As a PHEV, the Volvo does not qualify for the FAME scheme and is also subject to import duty tax resulting in a price of INR 95 lakh (about 140,000 dollars).

Electric scooter buddy: German start-up Kumpan makes electric scooters with exchangeable batteries. Now, the retro vehicles shall travel to other countries with the help of crowd funding. Five to ten European countries could receive the “companeros” next year. U.S. market entry is set for 2018.
