Kia bets on alternative drivetrains: Kia plans to ramp up its electric portfolio. Kia’s first dedicated hybrid Nrio will launch next year, as well as the Optima PHEV. Connected electric scooter: Barcelona-based start-up Scutum and Cellnex Telecom are jointly working on IoT-connected scooters. A first model will be on display at Smart City Expo. e-tron Ultra: EPA officially rated the Audi A3 e-tron at an electric range of 17 miles. That is for the so-called ultra version, the A3 sportsback featuring ultra-low rolling resistance tires, which add one mile of electric range. The A3 e-tron is available in small numbers in the U.S.
