Massive EV investment: Chinese carmaker SAIC Motor plans to invest more than 20 billion yuan (3.2 billion USD) in electric and hybrid vehicles in the next five years. The company aims to develop 30 new models targeting total sales of 600,000 units by 2020 and also plans to build 50,000 charging stations.

The EU agreed on new rules for real driving emission (RDE) testing for diesel cars. Yet, instead of using the dieselgate scandal in favour of tighter regulation, the agreement has been watered down. Limits of toxic nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions agreed are double the Euro 6 levels from back in 2007. The EU has also delayed the implementation of new limits for all new cars until 2019.
