There are 46 solar-powered cars from 25 countries involved in this year’s World Solar Challenge. They race under the burning Australian sun on a 3,000-kilometre (1,864 mile) course that leads them across the continent from Darwin to Adelaide. The first finishers are expected next Wednesday.
