Peugeot shows Fractal: The French carmaker officially took the wraps off the electric coupé concept. The 150kW EV features a 30 kWh battery pack, allowing it to go 450 km on one charge. And while this vehicle will never make it to production, Peugeot says that it provides a glimpse of what an electric coupé for the city could look like in the future.

Toyota officially unveiled its RAV4 hybrid SUV in Frankfurt, the manufacturer’s first hybrid compact SUV in the C-segment in Europe. It features a 2.5 litre engine and electric motor, while the all-wheel-drive variant comes with a second electric motor in the rear. The European version of the SUV emits 115g of CO2 per km.

Renault previews diesel-hybrid: The new Mégane lineup is said to include a ‘Hybrid Assist’ diesel come 2017. The 2016 model was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt, sporting the carmaker’s latest design theme and features some neat extra, such as a Bose sound system and massaging driver’s seat.

Electrify or hybridise? Mazda cannot seem to decide whether to fully electrify or stick with hybrids. According to CEA Masamichi Kogai, the carmaker is currently testing customers’ reaction to an all-electric Mazda 2 and Mazda 3 hybrid in Japan. Depending on the outcome, the entire product lineup could be fitted with new drivetrains.

News from South Korea: Company SsangYong showed its new concepts XAV-Adventure and XLV-Air in Frankfurt. The former is available with a 1.6 litre petrol or diesel engine, as well as an electric motor (13 hp) at the front and two more (40 hp) in the rear.
