BMW charges China: The German carmaker will erect 500 charging stations in major Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen by the end of the year. By the end of 2016, BMW intends to have finished installation of a total of 1,000 charging points.

Workhorses for UPS: The delivery company has ordered 125 hybrid delivery trucks from Workhorse. The trucks have a range of up to 60 miles and will serve in Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida from the first half of 2016.

EV promo project: Over the next to years, the ‘Consumers, Vehicles and Energy Integration’ (CVEI) project will look at market penetration of and consumer reaction to EVs in the UK. A trial with more than 300 participants is planned at a later stage. Cenex and EDF Energy are among the partners.

Burger and electricity: Infrastructure provider Smatrics, a cooperation between Verbund and Siemens, will erect fast-charging stations at nine McDonald’s restaurants in the Austrian capital of Vienna. The company hopes to exponentially increase EV uptake.

EV ready: The Environmental Planning Commission in Mountain View, California, wants to make the installation of EV infrastructure compulsory for all new constructions. The city has yet to decide whether to support the measure.
