“Policies providing effective incentives for the sale of electric vehicles, more charging pillars, and procurement programs for cars with electric drive are necessary. We are convinced that those who want to be successful on the world’s automotive markets in the long term must master the technology of emissions-free driving and push forward on their home market.”
Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), calls upon policy makers worldwide to put measures in place for electric cars to “really take off.” He says, electrification will already be a main topic at the IAA this year.

“The electric vehicles currently on sale were never designed for mass markets; customers’ primary reasons for purchasing them were fascination with the new technology and, in many cases, concern over climate change. Their price was not in step with their practicality. However, the vehicles of the latest generation will actually pay off for the first time.”
Volker Blandow, Global Head of E-Mobility at TÜV SÜD, believes that in just a few years, EVs will be the most attractive cars. For that, range and the number of fast-chargers have to increase – undertakings TÜV SÜD supports with its network of testing laboratories.
