Aussie solar racer: EVX Ventures, a Swinburne University of Technology spin-off, says it will unveil its electric sports car ‘The Immortus’ at the SEMA show in November. The two-seater is said to have a range of 550 kilometres, provided its solar panels continue to charge the batteries.

Nissan withdraws from WEC: Nissan will go back to the testing stage to solve problems with the GT-R LM Nismo’s hybrid system. It had already been rumoured that the Japanese will readjust the LMP-1 programme and consequently withdraw from all WEC races. When Nissan will be back on track, remains to be seen.

VCU electric sports car: Drako Motors launches its vehicle control unit Drako DriveOS. It controls all four wheels independently and has had its first success: it co-steers an electric racer built by Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Science, which took the Nordschleife in under eight minutes.

Battery recall: Panasonic and KTM are voluntarily recalling e-bikes with hub motors due to potential problems with batteries from the model year 2013 and a serial numbers starting with RA16 and RA17. The power packs could overheat and even light up, though no such incident has been reported yet.
