Impressive 233,000 electric bikes were sold in the Netherlands in 2014 – an annual growth of 16 percent. Pedelecs now account for 21.2 percent market share of bicycles and can also be held (partly) responsible for 11.2 percent more money spent by Dutch people on bicycles (over 886m euros).
