Unique electric racer: Students of the University of Pennsylvania have build an electric race car which is currently on display at the Philadelphia Auto Show. The REVO is to compete in the Formula SAE Electric and all components are done from scratch. The project is part of Penn Electric Racing.

F1 W06 Hybrid unveiled: The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team presented its hybrid racer for the new season. The biggest challenge was to bring the new F1 W06 Hybrid in line with 2015 F1 regulations that now allow only four instead of five power units per driver for this season.

Hybrid locomotives for Audi: Alstom will supply two hybrid shunting locomotives for Audi’s freight transport at the factory in Ingolstadt. The drive combines a 350 kW diesel generator with a 350 kWh NiCd battery and is said to save about 50 percent fuel. Deliveries are set for the end of 2015 and 2016.

It’s a chopper, baby: A Chop-E, to be precise and while from Estonia, the “E” is for electric. The fat tyre in the rear neatly holds the battery that powers the front wheel drive for about 40 miles. At a top speed of 20 mph, this e-bike is for cruising and the company is seeking funds to set up a production line.
