Only 24,000 EVs will be sold in India this year, according to industry estimates. That would mean that EV sales have almost halved in this calendar year, as there were 43,000 units sold in 2013. The withdrawal of EV subsidies in 2012 and the on-going delay of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) are the reasons for the downward trend.
