BMW plans R&D centre in South Korea: The new research and development centre will have two locations, one in Seoul and one in Incheon. In the latter, BMW already is involved in a electric car project and has just recently deepened its relationship with Samsung SDI.

Ford is capable of buidling a Tesla-like long-range high performance electric car, Ford CEO Mark Fields said last week, and such a product would be “consistent with our product philosophy.” Surprisingly, Mark Fields revealed that Ford bought a Model S: “We drove it. We took it apart. We put it back together, and we drove it again.”

3D-printed battery: Graphene 3D Lab Inc. has developed a 3D printable graphene battery. The components had been printed in seperate printing sessions. But with a true multi-material 3D printer, the battery could be produced in a single print, the company says. The technology could be used to 3D print supercapacitors or batteries that are incorporated in the body of car.

The Hoverboard is here, almost: US-based Hendo Hover is developing a hovering skateboard that uses magnetic levitation to fly about one inch above ground. The Kickstarter campaign was succesfull and collected more than 370,000 dollars already.
