Renault’s plug-in plans become more concrete: A final decision about production has yet to be made, but it is becoming clear what form the PHEV will take. The model for the C-segment will have a range of 30 to 40 kilometres and rumour has it, one can already take a peek at a first version in Geneva.

Nissan e-NV200 starts in July: Nissan’s new van is powered by a Leaf drivetrain and said to have a range of 170 kilometres. It also features a new breaking system with increased regenerative capability, while the battery has been installed underneath the cargo hold. The electric version of the NV200 will be available starting in July.

World premier for Porsche hybrid race car: The luxury carmaker presents its Porsche 919 Hybrid race car in Geneva today. The vehicle was made to compete in the Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) category of the FIA World Endurance Championship this year.

New Zoe offerings: As of today, Renault’s EV is available in France for long-term hire starting at 169 euros (232 dollars) per month – that is after a 6,300-euro governmental rebate and about 3,000-euro down payment. Also new is the optional 7 kW EVSE, with which customers can ‘fill-up‘ in just about 4 hours.

Russia’s hybrid dream comes to an end: The Yo-Mobil was to cost only 10,000 euros (13,700 dollars) and back in 2010, its production was announced with much ado…about nothing. The only big news since then – the production start has now been pushed back indefinitely.
